Formed in Britain, in 1981, by school friends George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley, Wham! became a worldwide phenomenon following the release of their second studio album, Make It Big, in 1984. Featuring the hits Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, Careless Whisper, Freedom and Everything She Wants, Make It Big sold over 10 million copies and both Wham! and George Michael became two of the biggest selling acts of the 1980s. As the primary singer, songwriter and producer for Wham!, George Michael decided to dissolve the duo in 1986 to pursue a solo career featuring more sophisticated songs and continued to release successful albums through 2014.
