Yes to tour this fall in celebration of the 50th anniversary of "Close to the Edge," their classic prog rock album

Classic prog rock band, Yes, are planning to tour this fall in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Close to the Edge.

Released on September 8, 1972, Close to the Edge was Yes' 5th studio album and their last with original drummer, Bill Bruford, as he left to join King Crimson.  Featuring an 18 minute title track inspired by Herman Hesse's novel, Siddhartha, Close to the Edge peaked at No. 4 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 3 on the Billboard 200, due in large part to the hit song, And You and I.

The Close to the Edge 50th anniversary tour will begin on October 7 in Glenside, Pennsylvania and wrap on November 19, in Westbury, New York.  (All of the dates are listed below). This tour is part of Yes' ongoing The Album Series Tour 2022 which is dedicated to Yes' late drummer, Alan White, who took over when Bill Bruford departed the band, and who passed on May 26, 2022. Yes has also scheduled the "Alan White — Celebrating His Life and Music" tribute concert on Oct. 2 at the Paramount Theatre, in Seattle, Washington.

Talking about Alan White, Yes guitarist Steve Howe had this to say, "It is with great sadness that I join with the other members of Yes to acknowledge the passing of our dearest friend and drummer, Alan White. He gave so many of his best years to the band and was a true believer and determined professional til the very end. Being a kind and loving human being just came naturally to him, with his mellow, non-confrontational personality and abundant generosity, which made him so popular with his friends and everyone he met.”
