The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Announces 2019 Induction Nominees

It’s that time of year again, folks. The time of year music experts at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nominating Committee gather together to create a list of nominees of some of the most deserving performers across the music sphere to be enshrined in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame! Ballots are now in the process of being sent to over 1,000 music historians, scholars, producers, journalists, and more in order to determine the 2019 class. This voting body will take into consideration a number of things such as the artist’s musical influence, innovation, length and depth of career and body of work, among other considerations. Fans will also get the opportunity to vote online through the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame website, or in person at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.

This year’s nominees are:

To be eligible for consideration, nominees must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior being nominated (1993). From there the Nominating Committee, comprised of music historians, dives into the qualified artist’s body of work and influence on the music industry as a whole in order to narrow down the list of possible nominees to around a half dozen. Of the 15 nominees on the ballot for 2019, 6 are newcomers to the list, including Def Leppard, Devo, John Prine, Roxy Music, Stevie Nicks, and Todd Rundgren.

Fans can vote here for their pick of 5 nominees once per day online or in person through December 9, 2018. The top 5 artists selected by the public will be included in a “fan ballot” that will be tallied along with the ballots of the official voting body. Inductees will be the artists with the highest number of votes who have also received 50% or more of the vote tally.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2019 Inductees will be announced in December of 2018, with the Induction Ceremony held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on March 29, 2019. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members will receive access to a limited number of pre-sale tickets. The Induction Ceremony will be broadcast on HBO, with Sirius XM carrying a radio simulcast.
