2022 ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Congratulations to Duran Duran, Pat Benatar, Lionel Richie, Eurythmics, Carly Simon, Eminem, Dolly Parton, Judas Priest, and all of the other winners on their induction into the 2022 Rock & Roll of Fame.
The winners are determined by a mix of votes from 1,000 musical artists, historians and other music industry folks along with a website hosted fan vote. Duran Duran easily reigned supreme among the fan votes with over 900,000 received. Eminem, in his first year of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame eligibility, was in second place with 680,000 votes. Pat Benatar at 630,000 votes, Eurythmics with 442,000 and Dolly Parton with 393,000 rounded out the top 5.
Dolly Parton stirred up a small bit of controversy when she was nominated, as she publicly announced she didn't feel it was her place to be inducted, being that she doesn't view herself as a rock singer, however, she did later say that if inducted, she would accept the honor gracefully.
The official induction ceremony for the 2022 class will take place on November 5 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angele. It will be aired on HBO and streamed on HBO Max at a later, not yet officially announced, date.
