Formed in New York City by Scott Ian and Dan Lilker, in 1981, Anthrax is considered one of the Big Four pioneering bands of thrash metal, which also includes both Metallica and Slayer. Anthrax has released 11 studio albums and 26 singles with four of the albums reaching Gold, and they are considered one of the most successful groups in the thrash metal genre.
