THIS SONG IS TRULY OVER...THE WHO'S FINAL TOUR

Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, the last 2 surviving members of the original lineup of The Who, have announced they're going to be embarking on The Who's farewell tour.

With 16 dates scheduled in North America, this will truly be the last tour the band performs here.  Titled "This Song is Over," after the song of the same name from the band's 1971 album, Who's Next, the tour will commence on August 16 in Sunrise, Florida and conclude just over a month later, on September 28, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Hints of a farewell tour have been circulating for a while, as last March Pete Townshend told the New York Times, "It feels to me like there’s one thing the Who can do and that’s a final tour where we play every territory in the world and then crawl off to die. I don't get much of a buzz from performing. If I'm really honest, I've been touring for the money."  During his official announcement for the "This Song is Over" farewell tour, Pete went onto say "Well, all good things must come to an end. It is a poignant time.  For me, playing to American audiences and those in Canada has always been incredible... I must say that although the road has not always been enjoyable for me, it is usually easy: the best job I could ever have had. I keep coming back. Every time I do, I meet new fans and feel new energy. Roger and I are in a good place, despite our age, eager to throw our weight behind this fond farewell to all our faithful fans, and hopefully to new ones who might jump in to see what they have been missing for the last 57 years. This tour will be about fond memories, love and laughter. Make sure you join in.”

Lead singer, Roger Daltrey, added, "To me, America has always been great. The cultural differences had a huge impact on me, this was the land of the possible. It's not easy to end the big part of my life that touring with The Who has been. Thanks for being there for us and look forward to seeing you one last time."

This isn't the first time The Who have announced and performed a farewell tour.  Their other famous one took place in 1982, with the last show being December 17, in Toronto.  However, the band came back together in 1987, to much shagrin, with a full 15-piece orchestra and have been together ever since, aside losing bassist John Entwistle in 2002, and have released a couple of new albums since John's passing.
