RIP ANTONY PRICE - DESIGNER FOR DURAN DURAN, DAVID BOWIE & MICK JAGGER AMONG OTHERS PASSES AWAY

RIP ANTONY PRICE

Who is Antony Price exactly, you may be asking?  Regularly referred to as the greatest designer you never heard of, Mr. Price was a fashion pioneer best known for dressing some of the biggest names in rock music, including Duran Duran, David Bowie and Mick Jagger, to name a few.  You can also throw in Roxy Music and a lot of supermodels into that mix as well.

Have you ever heard the phrase "You may not know his name, but you definitely know his work?"  Well, for those who had the opportunity to grow up watching MTV in the early 1980s, those classic suits that Duran Duran wore in their Rio video, those were Antony Price designs.  So was the clothing that Mick Jagger wore in the Rolling Stones 1969 Gimmer Shelter Tour.  David Bowie's sheek suits he donned in the 1980s - also Mr. Price designs.  He also styled Roxy Music and the "Roxy Girls" on the band's album cover.

In fact, he worked so closely with Duran Duran that keyboardist Nick Rhodes referred to Antony Price as both a "visionary" and "dear friend."  Mr. Rhodes went on to say that "nobody did glam better than Antony." adding, "His distinctive creations were unique and striking. Whilst he rarely received the recognition he deserved from the fashion media, his notable clientele and many other designers all knew Antony was a genius, a cut above the rest."

In addition to the rock stars he designed for and clothed, he was also a favorite of the Queen of England - Queen Camilla as been seen in Price designed custom gowns and eveningwear.

Antony Price was 80 when he passed on December 16.
