MEGADETH'S 2026 FAREWELL TOUR IS GOODBYE

Megadeth lead singer, guitarist and founder, Dave Mustaine, has officially confirmed that their upcoming farewell tour will be their last.
His reasoning for stating this is to make sure fans understand that Megadeth will not be following in the footsteps of some of their heavy metal contemporaries such as Slayer or Motley Crue, who returned to touring after making big announcements of, and subsequently peforming, final tours. In his own words, Mr. Mustaine has said “You see the scuttlebutt that is associated with bands like that. You know they never follow through with it and stick to their word.”
Additionally, their 17th studio album is scheduled to drop this month (January 2026), and Dave has also stated that there will be no more Megadeth studio albums following this one. There is, however, a very likely possibility a live album will be released, following the conclusion of their upcoming final tour.

This past summer, Megadeth's logo, Vic Rattlehead, was featured in an animated video saying “The next Megadeth album will be the last. 40 years of metal forged in steel will end in fire … And when the New Year rises, the global farewell tour.”
Titled the This Was Our Life Tour, Mustaine is quoted as telling Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM's Trunk Nation that Megadeth's final tour “had been a long time coming,” and they should perform “one last really good tour” to support and promote their final album. And when talking about his and the band's future following the conclusion of the This Was Our Life Tour, Dave added "I think for all of us, we’re always going to be in Megadeth. We’re always going to be brothers now and best friends, and we’re always going to be responsible for making some of the most fun music that bassists and guitarists and drummers will ever want to play."
